The service auto/train proposes a new offer: the transport of your vehicle alone.
This solution offers you even more flexibility:

  • Your vehicle travels onboard a train while you choose the means of transport you want for your own travel: TGV, Téoz, iDTGV, plane, shared car…
  • You can also have your car picked up at arrival by a person of your choice.

Simple and practical, you will benefit from many assets:

    You avoid the tiredness and stress of a road journey to the destination of your choice.

    By auto/train, you use less petrol and do your bit for the environment.

  • Offered services
    - Breakfast at arrival only on the day indicated on the auto/train ticket, if you travel by night and you were given a voucher at departure. Vouchers issued at arrival are not valid
    - A car wash voucher, valid in a station at arrival*
    - Free parking one day before departure and one day after arrival of your vehicle in the auto/train station
    - Free shuttle service between the auto/train station and the passengers station*

*Attention: these services are not offered in all the auto/train stations.

Directions for use of the auto/train service

Cars, motorcycles, scooters...can be transported by auto/train to your holiday location. The vehicles travel on a specially equipped two storey car carrier.

The vehicle must meet some criteria to be accepted:

  • Your vehicle must be in running order and registered
  • Your vehicle must not exceed the following dimensions:

For your motorcycle or scooter

Prices and tariff terms

To adapt optimally to the requirements of all its customers, auto/train proposes a new tariff range as from May 2008, with more reduced prices.

  • You can let your vehicle travel on certain dates from 49€* (price for a single outward journey) irrespective of the category of your vehicle, by being the first to book your ticket, up to 90 days before the train's departure The Prem's auto/train tariffs are non exchangeable and non refundable.

Enjoy other accessible tariffs all year round!

  • The longer you anticipate your travel, the more favourable prices you'll get: up to 50% discount on the reference tariff.
  • You can also benefit from good prices by buying a return ticket (up to 20% discount on the reference tariff*), or a "short stay" return ticket (up to 30% discount, valid for a return on the same destination, with an interval of less than 10 days)*.
  • Finally, up to the last minute, you can buy tickets at "Jours Or" tariff (up to 20% discount on the reference tariff)* by letting your car travel on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

    • *Subject to available seats at this tariff at the time of sale. Fixed tax for administrative costs not included.


    Choose flexibility with the Fléxi tariff!

    • The Fléxi tariff offers particularly flexible exchange and refund terms for an additional fee of only 5% on the reference tariff: free exchange and refund until the start time of the vehicle loading, then refund of up to 25% up to 60 days after that time.
    • The various discounts are calculated on the reference price:

Exchanges and Refund

Exchanging or cancelling your tickets
The exchange and refund terms depend on the tariff of your ticket.
They are based on the loading D day of your vehicle in the auto/train station and the hour H of the start of the loading timetable (date and time indicated on your ticket).

Flexi Tariff: exchange and refund free of charge until H.
After H, the ticket is exchangeable, or refundable with a deduction of 25% on the ticket price until D+60.

Reference Tariff: exchange and refund free of charge until D-1 mid day, then with a deduction of 3% before H. Non-exchangeable, non-refundable ticket.

Return Tariffs: exchange or refund free of charge before D-7, then with a deduction of 3% on the ticket price between D-7 and D-1 before mid day and 50% before H.
After H : Non-exchangeable, non-refundable ticket.

Tariff with advance purchase or tariff « Golden Day »:  »: exchange or refund with a deduction of 3% on the ticket price before D-7, then 50% before H.
After H : Non-exchangeable, non-refundable ticket.

Prem’s Tariffs: Non-exchangeable, non-refundable ticket.

Booking

You can book in the following ways:

  • Go to the SNCF-Rail Europe shops and authorised travel agencies.
  • Go to the stations.
If you are in France:
  • Call 3635 (0.34€ TTC/ mn): say « auto/train » or type «42». This information and sale service is accessible daily from 7am to 10pm.
  • Go to the SNCF stations in France.
To receive your tickets
  • You can receive your tickets for free by ordering them at least 7 days before your departure (4 days if you reside in France)
  • You can retrieve them at the counter of the SNCF-Rail Europe shops or the counters of French stations until the day of your departure.
  • You can retrieve them at a self service point in a French station until the day before your departure.
